The Journey begins

Thanks for joining me!

Be the Change you wish to see in the World ~ Ghandhi

This Blog was created to share ideas, and ways we’d like to see change in this world.

Changelightbulbs is a blog devoted to writing about things we could change for the better, that light bulb moment to let’s turn the lights on and make a difference through spreading the word on observations of everyday things that we could change

It’s a way to write those observations or grievances and even to add a little light, Will share your thoughts and articles too

Can a person even make a difference?

I’d like to think so and believe Collective thoughts gather and so before long as the famous quote says, through our thoughts and behaviour :- we’ve become the Change we wanted to see in the world.

Mining Change

Congratulations to the judge that decided to stop a mine from going ahead on the basis that we should be scaling back production that is not in line with reducing green house gas emissions and in support of a reduction in green house gases. How innovative. What a courageous, thought provoking human.

What an amazing courageous stand.

Must have been an enlightening moment being on the precipice of life where in your career and everything you’ve done up until that moment finally being in the position to say I can approve this and we can all go in that direction or I have the power right now to change this for the ultimate good so we are going on this direction unfortunately whether you like it or not, this is my decision.

Not an easy thing to do.

So fantastic to see someone take the courage to do it and have to live by it even knowing what that would bring and the trouble it may cause forever more.

If we could all have it within us.

Wildlife

It’s a good thing that a lot of wildlife in this country is nocturnal, or there might be even less alive than there is now!

At least when most people are asleep some get a chance to make it about alive!

It is aweful that some drivers appear that it’s ok to speed around and if some little creature crosses the road well it’ll just get mowed down with some sick sadistic satisfaction. That creature has a little face and feels pain and is at the mercy of humans to help them if they’re hurt.

We are lucky in this Country that most are asleep in their little homes while we are out in our traffic rows of the commute or things could be a lot worse.

In my new world of animal activists and concerned humans we are always on the look out when we drive, especially at night when the little creatures are out and about.

We build roads that have wildlife traffic bypass corridors, we have people that are aware and slow down when necessary and wait if animals and wildlife are running around or putting themselves at risk and we’re patient, we anticipate the worst; like they’re about to run out in front of us or fly down near our windscreen and then we are relieved when we’ve slowed down and the issue was averted.

When we are that human that likes to feed them :- we do so where the safety of them, our neighbours, ourselves and other motorists are safe as well. Otherwise just stick to putting out some water on a hot day.

We anticipate the potential actions or outcomes of the animals we’re feeding!

We plan our commute where we can, after sunrise and before sunset. The less vulnerable hours. We make that conscious decision

We love our pets and we are responsible; we lock them up at night because we know they love us and are there to please or protect us and they’re territorial and we also need to protect our wildlife so we don’t want them Killing or competing in our backyard. We bring the dogs in, stop the cats from roaming. We let the wildlife have free rain to migrate around during the darkness when they are foraging for food and gathering,  and they’ll be back in their nests before you’all wake up. We are aware, we notice our locals and those that live in our backyard and we support them.

We let them be transient but on really hot days when we know water is scarce we give them a helping hand.

We don’t go out of our way to disrupt them either, it’s all about awareness, understanding and support

Farming & Food Change

With continuous droughts, dusty, dry land and people’s changing perceptions around health and nutrition, the farmer needs to change and evolve farming practices to adapt to changing trends and to remain viable into the future.

People are becoming more health conscious, environmentally aware and interested in eating clean, seasonal nutritious food of vegetables, herbs and fruits and are moving away from processed food; mass scale cropping, any GMO crops and land clearing; the old sheep and cattle farm is becoming a way of the past.

Seasonal vegetables and herbs, companion and rotational planting and putting all the trees back in, with bee hives and native flowers and native water plants in dams and creeks, restocking fish and yabbies these are the way of the future.

People want to see less chemicals, more natural repellents in the form of companion planting to naturally reduce pests, bringing back overall quality food at affordable prices.

Farmers need to build communities that support each other to bring their produce together on mass.

In my changed world, it’s already there.
